About

Pocket Playbook started as a shared notes folder between a few friends who kept texting each other tips about the games we were stuck on. At some point the notes got long enough that we figured we might as well put them somewhere public. That is the whole origin story, nothing fancier.

The editorial idea is simple. We install a game, play it for real over several days, and only then do we write about it. No screenshots from trailers, no copy-pasted marketing lines. If a level design is clumsy or the controls fight your thumbs, we say so.

We pick games based on what people are actually playing and what our readers ask about. We try to cover a spread of genres so the catalog is not just puzzle after puzzle. Some titles are huge, some are small oddities we stumbled onto.

Recently we spent a week with Big Bass Drop and wrote up our impressions, which is the kind of thing you can expect here regularly. We are a small team, so we are honest about our pace, but we keep the site alive.
